HDMI EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is an in-built electronic feature that allows the source device, such as a Blu-Ray player, to "communicate" with the attached HDTV display.
EDID "communication" between a display and a source downloads the parameters to replicate the video characteristics needed to match the HDTV screen for optimum viewing. This automatic response saves time by not having to fine-tune the screen every time a new video source is connected.
Not just limited to PC based systems, the EDID feature is now found in most modern DVR's, DVD and Blu-Ray players and all mainstream HDTV's. In earlier days when connecting a source and a display together, you had to manually adjust the display's resolution, colour, brightness and contrast characteristics to try to obtain the best picture.
Now, by using an HDMI EDID Emulator, it is all done automatically, greatly reducing setup time and ensuring best possible interconnection between a source and a display, or a number of displays. When a source and display are incompatible by not working together, or produces a poor quality distorted image, then an Emulator can overcome this by manipulating EDID code to communicate between source and HDTV for best setup and display.
Converters.TV have two models available now from our on-line store. The HDMI EDID Emulators are latest release technology and cover Standard Definition, High Definition and now Ultra High Definition video and audio products.
