Our new CV/SV to Full HD Mini DisplayPort Scaler is the perfect solution for anyone looking to utilise their 27" iMac, or similar display using "MiniDisplay Port" connection, as the centerpiece of their home entertainment center. It allows you to display your Composite video/S-Video sources on your Monitor via the Mini DisplayPort interface. The unit will also upscale the Composite video/S-Video input source for display with a wide-range of selectable resolutions (up to 1080p).
The Mini DisplayPort (a smaller version of the DisplayPort interface) is a digital display interface standard introduced by Apple Computers. Many of Apple's recent products utilise the Mini DisplayPort interface, with many third-party manufacturers also beginning to implement the Mini Display Port interface into their displays. The 27" iMac model for example allows the Mini DisplayPort to act as an input, turning the iMac into a standalone display. One problem that has faced users in the past wanting to display video signals on their Apple monitors is that it must be a pure DisplayPort signal - you can't simply input an external video signal using an adapter such as an HDMI-to-Mini DisplayPort cable or DVI-to-Mini DisplayPort.
This scaler box takes a Composite Video/S-Video source and outputs as a pure Mini Display Port signal. With this scaler box, you could for example connect your Composite Video source (such as DVD player, Set-top Box, Game console etc) to a display with Mini DisplayPort (such as Apple's Cinema Display LCD monitors, or 27" iMac). Selectable video resolutions are VGA, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p@50/60, with the unit also transferring audio allowing you to enjoy both High Definition images and sound consistently.
